Little drops of gold

Today was named Sunday for the sun. Helios, Ra, Apollo, Daystar the list goes on. As we inch into Spring, it’s understandable why people found countless ways to honor our giant star. Whether that is sun bathing, taking long walks, hanging washing to dry, we love to be in those sun rays.

It’s almost like a small reminder to enjoy this life, even amidst all the woes. A reminder that there is beauty and things for our senses that make us feel joy, love and tenderness. A figure who captures this wish for self-care is the orisha Oshun from the Yoruba (Nigeria) culture. Her colors are orange, gold and yellow, whilst her herbs are cinnamon and anise, all dripped in honey. She encourages us to take the time to look at our selves and really see. See the parts you’re usually in too much of a hurry to notice, or perhaps you try to hide from acknowledging.

Sundays come along to slow the speed of time; to spend our moments with those we love, eating food we’ve had time to prepare and to indulge in the things that make our hearts shimmer. It’s also a glorious time to work more with herbs whether in teas or tinctures, baked into good or dusted over long drawn baths.

Some Sunday herbs to try are: chamomile, calendula, juniper and rosemary.

Happy herb crafting!

Glad you’re here,
