Aquarius Season

Aquarius season began on Jan. 20 and runs through to Feb. 18. Running feels like the right word for this innovative, creative, always thinking zodiac. Aquarius is an air sign and is connected to our circulatory and nervous system. Think how oxygen gets around our body and our intellect and mental processes. Around this time of year, there might be more going on in both our bodies and minds.

How this shows up could be: lower blood pressure, anaemia, fatigue and depression. It’s around now, we become thoroughly over winter and its long nights. If you live in the Midwest, the snow that’s still on the ground since that earlier big snow storm, has turned everything into an ice rink. We’re starting to really feel the need for warmer temperatures and more sun on our faces.

This is where plants come in again to teach us how to flow with the season. Where we can find ways to care for our hearts, blood pressure and calm our nerves. Whether you try steeping rosemary and lavender to soothe your overactive mind. Or you try incorporating hawthorn (berries) that helps to normalize blood pressure and strengthen the heart. (Please note: check with your physician if you are on heart medication, as hawthorn can interact with it).

Don’t forget eating plants is a great way to receive their care. It’s not a coincidence that we enjoy hearty soups and crusty bread at this time. Next time add a little more cayenne pepper, garlic and some dark greens, to keep the blood flowing and the feeling of contentment. Before you know it we’ll be ushering spring, welcoming back flowers and making their essence and fitting ourselves in these great cycles.

Glad you’re here,
