Teas

Perhaps you already know this, but one of the easiest ways of getting herbal remedies into the body is through a good cup of tea. I’ll admit that being British, my love of tea likely knows no bounds, but my awe has only grown since coming to learn more about our wonderful plant allies. And there is a plethora of knowledge, much of which has been passed on down family lines through caring hands that sought to bring the only healing they knew.

Cultures all over the world have looked to nature for strength, nourishment and wellness. And in teas, we get the immediacy of plant goodness, though not as strong as tinctures or capsules, still a gentle and needed way in.

The lovely thing about teas, is if you’re already the sort of person who heats up water for coffee in the morning, you’re not far off from steeping some loose leaves in a little mesh ball, letting it steep whilst your toast pings or your oatmeal is ready and then just like that you have the power of a herbal infusion in your hands.

Today is Monday, also known as ‘Moon Day’. It’s a time for the following herbs: lemon balm, lavender, passion flower, jasmine and the much overlooked free growing garden plant – purslane. Taking a table spoon of one of these dried plants supports the body and hopefully get us on course for a balanced week.
