Homegrown

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received on this journey is from my instructor at Wild Persimmon School of Wellness, Greg Monzel, “grow your own medicine garden/herbs.”

Simple as it may sound it is taking a lot of planning and deep thought, especially as I am trying to encourage native and companion plants and keep things as local as possible. But as the days grow shorter and darker, it’s almost the perfect setting for slowing down and getting things ready for the next season.

We want to try winter sowing and use our little greenhouse to see what can be sprouted there. We want to watch in wonder as small seeds turn to tiny leaves, buds and then full grown blooms.

Some of our closest friends are homesteading here in Indianapolis and they continue to inspire and amaze me. Nothing beats pulling into their drive and walking amongst their herb garden rows and knowing they helped make all of that possible.

We’ll be sharing more of our own growing journey as that’s all part of the products we make and the care we take.
